Union and employee representatives have agreed to Shannon Aerospace's planned restructuring.

The Ireland-based maintenance provider, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik, revealed plans to cut 107 jobs across its workforce in October. At that time, it employed 628 full-time staff and 97 trainees, according to the Services, Industrial, Professional and Technical Union (SIPTU).

Shannon Aerospace will have "in excess of 540 employees" from January onwards, the company said in a statement today.

Employees voted in favour of the programme following consultations between management, SIPTU and employee representatives with support from Ireland's labour relations commission.

"I am in no doubt but that we can move the company forward, to secure our position... as a key player in the future of the Irish aviation industry," says chief executive Thomas Rueckert, who took the helm from Martin Kaiser in August.
