Singapore Airlines (SIA) recorded a drop in passenger load factor last month as capacity increases outpaced growth in demand.

The Star Alliance carrier says in a statement that passenger load factor fell by 1.6 percentage points in March, to 80.8%. ASKs increased 4.5% and RPKs rose 2.4%. The number of passengers carried increased 2.3% to 1.66 million.

SIA Cargo’s freight load factor was unchanged last month, at 62.8%, as capacity and traffic both fell 4.9%. The amount of freight carried fell 0.4% to 115,000t.
