More fleet details have emerged from Singapore Airlines' new long-haul low-cost carrier, currently dubbed New Aviation, showing that it will operate a fleet of up to 14 Boeing 777s in its first four years of operations.
According to a tender document, the carrier has committed to a fleet of 10 777-200s and four 777-200ERs, with four 777-200s on a firm contract and the remaining 10 aircraft on option.
New Aviation will have a fleet of four 777-200s in its first year of operation in 2012. The carrier is expected to start services in April next year with one aircraft and will introduce one aircraft a month in May, June and July.
Plans for 2013 include entry into service of two more aircraft of the type. However the carrier will introduce two 777-200ERs to its fleet in mid-2014.
In 2015 New Aviation will add three 777-200s while in 2016 plans call for the introduction of two 777-200ERs and one 777-200.
Aircraft will initially be sourced from the parent carrier, which has 20 Boeing 787-9s and 20 Airbus A350-900s on order and recently committed for another batch of A330s through operating leases.
According to Flightglobal's Ascend database, SIA's 777 fleet includes 35 777-200ERs, 12 777-300s and 19 777-300ERs.
