Southwest Airlines says it is working with FAA towards a resolution of installation of unauthorised parts on roughly 46 737s.

A carrier spokesman confirmed the carrier was working with the agency to resolve the issue, but had no additional information to supply.

The issue emerged last weekend after reports surfaced the aircraft were operating with unapproved parts. However, newswires are reporting that the carrier has a 10-day time period to work with regulators to determine how to handle the issue.

Reuters is reporting the parts were installed by a contractor that handles some of the carrier's maintenance.
