New Basle-based charter carrier Hello, headed by Crossair founder Moritz Suter, is poised to launch services after delivery of the first of three Boeing MD-90-30s.

The airline's core business will be charter flights to holiday destinations in southern Europe and northern Africa. Hello's head office is in Basle, but the airline operates from the three major Swiss airports - Basle-Mulhouse, Geneva and Zurich.

The three MD-90s are leased from Boeing Capital, with the second aircraft due to arrive soon and the third to be delivered in October. The aircraft are equipped with one-class 168-seat cabins.

Suter, who was previously chief executive of Crossair, is president of Hello's board, while former TEA Switzerland managing director Markus Seiler is in charge of the carrier's operations.

A large number of Hello's staff are former Crossair employees.
