UK holiday carrier Thomson Airways has started renting PlayStation portable in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems to passengers.
The PlayStation portables or 'PSPs', supplied to Thomson Airways by IFE Services, are available for passengers to hire on selected aircraft operating from several UK airports, including London Gatwick, Glasgow and Manchester.
Customers can play the latest video games as well as watch a wide range of the latest movies on the PSPs, says the carrier.
"We are always looking for new ways to improve the customer experience onboard our flights. Introducing PSPs will give our customers the freedom of having their own handsets to play the latest games and watch movies of their choice as they fly," says Thomson Airways director of customer services Carl Gissing.
IFE Services CEO Mark Hogg adds: "We are delighted to have worked with Thomson Airways over the last 18 months developing this exciting and innovative product which will be exclusive to Thomson customers in the UK."
Flightglobal's ACAS database shows that Thomson Airways operates 53 aircraft, representing a mixture of Airbus A320 family narrowbodies, Boeing 737s, 757s, and 767s. The carrier holds orders for eight Boeing 787 twinjets.
