TUI is reorganising its executive team to bring its tour operators and airline businesses under the leadership of one person.

The leisure operator says executive board member David Burling is assuming responsibility for markets and airlines.

Alongside his existing responsibility for the "northern region" – comprising the UK, Ireland, the Nordic countries, Canada and Russia – Burling will also take over the "central region", covering TUI Deutschland, Austria, Switzerland and Poland.

A second reporting line to markets and airlines will be created for the "western region", comprising France, Belgium and the Netherlands, which are assigned to TUI chief executive Fritz Joussen.

Kenton Jarvis will assume the role of chief executive of aviation and report to Burling. In addition, Jarvis becomes business improvement director for markets, "focusing on leveraging and implementing the efficiency potential of the national organisations".

TUI says that, as a result of its pooling of responsibility for all markets and their airlines, "co-operation between TUI's national organisations will be reinforced".
