US Airways has completed the installation of a first class cabin on 110 US Airways Express regional jets.

The installation on Embraer 170/175 and Bombardier CRJ700/900 aircraft began in September and was completed in mid-December.

The first class cabin product offers seats with seat pitches of between 37 and 38 inches, compared with 31 inches in economy class.

"By working with our Express partners PSA, Mesa and Republic Airways, we are now able to provide the same levels of service our First Class passengers desire on our fleet of larger regional jets," said Dion Flannery, president, US Airways Express

US Airways announced the plan to introduce a first class product on its regional jets in April 2011, saying then that it estimates to spend $35 million on the upgrade.

The airline's upgrade follows similar efforts by other US carriers on their regional jets, such as Delta Air Lines and American Airlines.
