Bombardier's CSeries is undergoing taxi trials as the Canadian airframer edges closer to the twinjet type's maiden flight.

The manufacturer has released video images of the aircraft conducting low-speed taxiing at Montreal's Mirabel airport on 16 August.

It shows the CS100 flight-test prototype, FTV-1, performing steering and manoeuvring exercises.

Bombardier has yet to commit to a maiden flight date for the 110-seat jet, which is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engines.

It has shifted the first-flight schedule three times since originally aiming for the end of 2012, and has not given a target date in its latest forecast as it finalises software and integration work.

Customers have placed orders for 177 CSeries jets of which 63 are for the CS100 variant.
