The past and future of aerospace's UK standard bearer Rolls-Royce formed up in the skies over Farnborough when Boeing's Trent 1000-powered 787 Dreamliner overflew the airfield with twin Merlin-powered Supermarine Spitfires off its carbonfibre wingtips. The twinjet peeled off the warbirds, climbing into the skies bound for its first stop in Shannon on its way back to Boeing Field in Seattle.
