Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Blue are to codeshare in a agreement that will see the latter link its Navitaire low-cost booking system with the more complex reservation system of it sister airline. The agreement will enable Virgin Atlantic passengers flying from London to Sydney via Hong Kong to fly onto Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Cairns, Gold Coast and Coolangatta.

Virgin Nigeria launched operations at the end of June with its first flight from Lagos to London Heathrow. The carrier, 51% owned by Nigerian institutional investors and 49% owned by Virgin Atlantic, is operating an Airbus A340-300 from the Virgin Atlantic fleet. Virgin Nigeria plans to launch operations to African destinations in the near future.
