In-flight mobile connectivity provider AeroMobile has promoted commercial director Adla Worobec to the role of chief commercial officer, reporting to the firm's new CEO Pal Bjordal.

Worobec replaces Peter Tuggey, who has left the Telenor subsidiary to become European managing director of MedAire.

Canadian-born Worobec has held a range of senior roles in aviation, telecoms and software, having joined AeroMobile in February 2009 from Thus plc, the Scottish-based Cable & Wireless subsidiary. She previously worked for Connexion By Boeing as director wireless channels EMEA.

"Adla [Worobec's] background in both aviation and telecoms will be a real asset for us as we move the company on to its next phase. With more than 400 aircraft already in line to offer the AeroMobile service, helping airlines to market our services to passengers will be a key element of Adla's role going forward," says Bjordal.

He says AeroMobile is sad to be losing Tuggey - a founding member of AeroMobile's management team - to another firm, but acknowledges that the MedAire position "represents a great career move for him".

Tuggey "played a key role in ensuring that 2010 has been our best year yet for customer wins with five major airlines. He's helped take AeroMobile all the way from an innovative start-up to the mature market leader we are today," adds Bjordal.
