Xie Haoming has stepped down from his position as Hainan Airlines chairman and company director for a second time, due to “job changes.”

The carrier did not specify the date Xie stepped down, or as to when vice-chairman Chen Ming will take over Xie’s duties in the interim. The change also does not trigger the need to appoint additional board members, or affect the company's operations, says Hainan Airlines in its Shanghai Stock Exchange disclosure.

It has also expressed a commitment to name a new chairman “as soon as possible in accordance with legal procedures.”

Xie joined Hainan Airlines in 1995 as an engineer and became president of the airline in 2014.

He was promoted to chairman in 2016, but was replaced by Wang Fei in June 2017.

Xie was reappointed director on the airline’s board in mid-January 2019, when Bao Qifa stepped down as chairman and director for similar reasons. He was subsequently reappointed chairman by the month's end.

It is also unclear if this change will affect Xie’s other roles within the affiliated HNA Group.
