Zurich Airport will start operating the redeveloped Dock B terminal section and a new security check building on 1 December.

The facilities were built for the implementation of the Schengen agreement at the Swiss hub and officially inaugurated last week.

After checking in, all passengers will now pass through a centralised security control area before entering the airside concourse. The security checks were previously conducted at the gates.

Transfer passengers passing through the airport will go through security checks in Dock B or the remotely located Dock E. However, there will be no security checks at the aircraft gates anymore.

Dock B has been renovated using its original main structure from the 1970s. It has nine aircraft docking bays and will be used for flights to destinations both within and outside the Schengen area.

As a result of the redevelopment, the airport was able to introduce a dual taxiway at the top of the building for more efficient aircraft ground movement.
