Russian Helicopters foresees an opportunity to sell its coaxial Ka-32A11BC helicopter in China, mainly in the high-rise fire fighting role.

The company contends that the helicopter's coaxial rotors allow for superior control and manoeuvrability in the high turbulence situations involved in fire fighting.

"There are lots of tall buildings in Southern China, and it can be difficult to extinguish fires in such buildings," says Victor Egorov, deputy director of the Russian Helicopters' marketing department.

The company offers a number of options for the Ka-32A11BC, which is designed by Russia's Kamov Design Bureau. Fire fighting options include under slung buckets, horizontal water cannons, and foldable rescue cabins.

The type has been certified in a number of countries, with 140 operating in 30 countries globally.
