Gulfstream is bullish on the outlook of its latest two offerings, the G500 and G600, in the Chinese market.

The US private jet maker had a large presence at this year's show in Zhuhai, with a large chalet and two jets at the show, a G280 and a G650.

Roger Sperry, the company's senior vice president of international sales, notes that Chinese customers tend to prefer larger aircraft, and the slightly wider cabin of the two new types should appeal to customers in the country.

When asked about the possibility of Gulfstream moving some production to China, similar to Embraer or Cessna, Sperry said the firm is content to keep the bulk of its production in Savannah, and notes that the company has invested in increased capacity in there.

He says this consolidation approach allows for better quality control and other efficiencies. In regard too foreign ventures, he says, the company prefers to focus on areas such as product support.
