Gestair Private Aviation has been awarded the rights to manage the executive aviation terminal at Madrid Barajas airport by Spanish airport operator AENA.

The fixed-base operation, part of Spain's Gestair Group, now runs 10 sites on the Spanish mainland and islands which handled 7,730 aircraft last year, a rise of 12% on 2011.

Gestair has invested €1.2 million ($1.5 million) to improve the Barajas site, including refurbishing its interior.

With a total surface area of 472m² (5,080ft²), these new facilities have four VIP rooms, one for crew and three for passengers.
