Aircraft lessor AerCap has firmed an order for 50 Airbus A320neos, taking its total orders for the type to 200.

The deal, signed at the Farnborough air show today, marks the lessor's first major aircraft order since its acquisition of ILFC earlier this year. ILFC took its orders for the type to 150 at last year's Paris air show.

"The A320neo family is proving to be enormously successful," AerCap chief executive Aengus Kelly says. "AerCap has already placed 48 A320neo aircraft under lease agreement or letter of intent, so our decision to firm up for 50 additional A320neo-family aircraft is a natural extension of our fleet strategy."
