Two icons of the UK aerospace sector provided a stunning opening to the show yesterday, when Avro Vulcan XH558 flew overhead in formation with nine BAE Systems Hawks from the Royal Air Force's Red Arrows aerobatic display team.

With only two spare engines now available, the Vulcan to the Sky Trust warns that this is likely to be the bomber's last time at Farnborough, where the type first appeared in 1952.
