Boeing Business Jets president Capt Steve Taylor says he is quitting the organisation on a high, after net orders hit double figures this year for the first time since 2008.
Taylor - who is becoming chief pilot for Boeing Commercial Airplanes - said at NBAA this morning that 2014 had seen several landmarks, including the entry into service of the first 787 BBJ, with the first 747-8 BBJ coming out of completion this week and due to follow into operation later this year.
Boeing also took its first two orders for the 737 Max 8 BBJ and Taylor said he expects "more Max announcements by the end of the year".
The Seattle airframer has now sold nine 747-8 BBJs as head of state aircraft - eight are in completion - and Taylor said the company had launched a "campaign to sell another block of them". Among its targets is the US presidential aircraft - known by its call sign Air Force One. The Commander-in-Chief currently uses one of two ageing Boeing 747-200-based VC-25A jets.
Taylor says his successor will be announced in the next month.
