A new air show is to be launched in China in 2017 in an attempt to tap into the country's burgeoning civil aviation market.

The government of Sichuan province will announce on 16 June that the three-day trade and two-day public event will take place in September at Guanghan airport, 65km north east of Chengdu, and will have a focus on commercial manufacturing, MRO and support services, providing "a unique opportunity for aviation companies across the globe to gain access to the Chinese aviation supply chain".

Farnborough International, the organiser of the biennial UK show, and the European Union Project Innovation Centre (EUPIC), will work with the Sichuan government to organise the event.

The biennial show will be held in alternate years to the established Zhuhai air show.
