Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus boosted operating profit 26% to TL325 million ($125 million) last year as passenger numbers rose 17% to 19.7 million.

Operating revenue was up 29% at TL3.08 billion.

Load factor fell slightly, from 80.2% to 79.9%. Yield per international passenger slipped from €71.2 to €68.1 (TL201 to TL192), but the domestic figure climbed from TL75.9 to TL76.5.

Pegasus added a raft of new destinations last year: Dammam, Hurghada, London Gatwick, Lyon, Milan Malpensa, Nice, Oslo, Sharm el-Sheikh and Turkmenbashi. It also significantly increased frequencies to Basel, Dusseldorf, Kuwait, Moscow and Tel Aviv.

The carrier operates a total of 88 routes using its inventory of 58 aircraft with an average age of 4.9 years. The fleet total will reach 65 by year-end.

The carrier is cutting its fuel hedge from 59% in 2014 to 46% this year, and its dollar hedge from 78% to 12%.
