Northrop Grumman has been awarded a contract modification worth over $240 million to complete a deal to provide the US Air Force with three more Block 30M RQ-4B Global Hawk unmanned air vehicles.
Each of the high-altitude, long-endurance aircraft will be equipped with an enhanced integrated sensor suite and airborne signals intelligence payload (ASIP), “plus two additional ASIP sensors as retrofit kits”, the US Department of Defense says.
With the amendment, which uses funds allocated for fiscal year 2012, the DoD says the three-aircraft acquisition has a total cumulative value of almost $355 million. This also includes funding approved for Northrop in November 2013.
Work under the deal is due to be complete by 30 June 2017, according to the DoD.
