Air India expects to join Star Alliance by June 2010, and is in the process of adjusting its computer systems to ensure compatibility with its future network partners.

"The various parameters are steadily being met, and we should meet our June 2010 deadline," says Air India's top spokesman.

Air India was approved as a future member of Star in December 2007. In late 2008 Air India chairman and managing director Raghu Menon told ATI sister publication Airline Business that the carrier was looking to join the network in May 2009.

The spokesman attributes the delay to IT integration issues. "We informed Star Alliance of the issues accordingly, and the new June 2010 deadline was set," he says.
