AgustaWestland will have a prototype of its Lynx Wildcat/AW159 helicopter on static display at the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition in London from 13-16 September, as it seeks to attract its first export customer for the design.
The British Army and Royal Navy (RN) will eventually receive 62 production examples of the Lynx Wildcat, with the type to be fully operational around the middle of this decade. The aircraft on display will be one of three prototypes to have been involved in flight-testing of the new-generation type.
Ordered in 2006 via the UK's then-Future Lynx programme, the AW159 is powered by two LHTEC (Rolls-Royce/Honeywell) CTS800 engines.

The UK Ministry of Defence earlier this year placed an initial production order for 1,000 of Thales UK's lightweight multirole missiles, with the weapon to arm Lynx Wildcats for the RN.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first flight of a Lynx helicopter, with the Westland-designed aircraft having made its debut on 21 March 1971.
