Low-cost carrier EasyJet saw full-year revenue for the year to 30 September grow by 16% to £3.45 billion (£5.48 billion), up from £2.97 billion the year before.

Pre-tax profit rocketed by 31.5% to £248 million, up from £188 million the year previously. This was achieved, it said, despite the soaring cost of jet fuel which increased its costs by £100 million.

Passenger numbers and load factors were also higher than the previous year - up 11.8% to 54.5 million and by 0.3 percentage points to 87.3% respectively. Travellers originating outside the UK now account for 56% of its business, it said.

The carrier's operational performance was improved, it said, with on time performance showing a 13 percentage point gain to 79% for the full year.

During the year EasyJet took delivery of 13 Airbus A319s and 12 A320s, with the final two Boeing 737s withdrawn from service.

Its total fleet now stands at 202 active aircraft, comprising 167 A319s and 35 A320s. Of these, 129 aircraft are owned and 62 on lease. It has an additional 35 A320s on order.

The outlook for 2012 is "challenging" it said, and as such, it is taking a "cautious" approach to capacity deployment, with a flat first half and a 4% growth in the full year.
