Moving into the completions market two years ago is proving a savvy move for one of Europe's biggest charter operators, Comlux.

The company's Comlux America centre in Indianapolis has carried out seven Airbus and Boeing completions, including two of its own charter aircraft - an ACJ319 and ACJ320 - since Comlux bought the former IndyJet Bombardier interiors facility.

The departure has helped Comlux hedge against a challenging charter market, says chief executive Richard Gaona. "Charter is still very weak. There is still huge competition and the fuel price is damaging. Charter customers are not willing to pay more, so this has come at the right time," he says. "Completing seven aircraft in just two years is quite remarkable."

Comlux America has signed a new cabin completion contract for a Boeing BBJ aircraft for a customer based in Russia. The aircraft arrived at the Comlux America facility in early May. The BBJ will be one of the very first aircraft to be completed in Comlux America's new hangar, which is scheduled to open in June.

This will be the fourth Boeing aircraft Comlux America has completed. The cabin will be designed by Comlux Creatives, the design department of The Comlux Group. Comlux America also plans to move into Gulfstream interiors.
