Ruag Aviation is continuing to expand its Embraer maintenance capabilities with the addition of a manufacturer-approved service centre and an interior warranty repair facility in Munich for the airframer's airliner-derived Lineage 1000 jet.

The Swiss-based company already undertakes base and line maintenance on Embraer's midsize Legacy 600 and large-cabin Legacy 650 at Munich, and hopes to offer similar services for the in-development Legacy 450 and 500 in the future.

Michael Sattler, Ruag vice-president business aviation, says the move validates its decision to expand into cabin work.

"Since the official launch of the interior programme four years ago, we have experienced solid and steady growth in refurbishment and cabin upgrade activities," he says.

"Being able to add the Embraer Lineage 1000 to our interior programme is an achievement we are very proud of."

Although it notes the market penetration of the Embraer E-Jet-based Lineage in Europe is limited at present, it believes this, and the consequent need for overhaul services, will grow.
