Swiss manufacturer and maintenance house Ruag is exhibiting on the static display the first series example of 15 Eurocopter AS332 Super Pumas it is refurbishing for the country's air force. The 20-year-old aircraft has just been re-delivered, with the final upgraded version to be handed over in 2014.

The project to design and configure the new cockpit - which includes Rockwell Collins avionics and an Elbit helmet-mounted display - took around four years, and Ruag says it is an example of the sort of customised mid-life upgrade it can offer other Super Puma operators.

"Our unique selling point is that we give the customer what they want, wrapped in with a 20-year support package. We are not bound to any OEM," says Ruag military aviation test pilot Beat Furrer.
