The first Airbus Military C212-400 maritime patrol aircraft for Vietnam's marine police has arrived after its mission system installation in Sweden.
The first of three aircraft arrived in Hanoi after a 10-day ferry flight from Skavsta in Sweden, Airbus Military said in a statement.
The aircraft's ferry flight made stops in Greece, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, India, and Thailand. Airbus Military's crew comprised one captain, two co-pilots, two flight engineers, and a technical representative.
The second aircraft is in Sweden having its mission equipment installed by SSC Group. It is likely to be ferried to Vietnam in the second half of 2013, while the third will be formally presented to Vietnam at Airbus Military's facility in Seville, Spain before the end of 2012.
According to the SSC Group's website, the aircraft's mission system comprises the MSS 6000 maritime surveillance system. The MSS 6000 includes side-looking airborne radar, still and video cameras, infrared/ultraviolet scan, a forward looking infrared (FLIR) system as well as various communications and satellite links.
Data generated by aircraft sensors can be saved, compiled in mission reports and sent via satellite to a command centre or other units.
