GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) and CFM International will establish a CFM56 training centre to support the engine's users in South Asia.

The training centre will commence operations by late January 2010 and be located in the GMR Aerospace Park, says GHIAL. The park is located in the 250 acre aviation special economic zone that forms part of Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

Under the deal, GHIAL will build the training facility and lease it to CFM.

"This is a significant milestone in our plans to develop the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport as a preferred hub for maintenance, repair, and overhaul in South Asia," says GHIAL CEO P. Sripathy.
