Diehl BGT Defence hopes to secure a contract later this year to equip the German air force's Eurofighters with the GBU-48 Enhanced Paveway precision-guided bomb, says company president Claus Günther.

Diehl expects to perform 40% of the work under a business venture with Raytheon, with its activities to include producing the weapon's back-end control system, Günther says.

Meanwhile, the German company has also revealed details of a new pact with Israeli manufacturer Rafael. This will allow Diehl to use systems from the Spice guidance kit with the Hosbo glide weapon, being offered to the Luftwaffe and potential export customers with EADS.
