Indonesian Aerospace has delivered six Bell 412 EP (enhanced performance) utility helicopters to the Indonesian army, and has received a follow-on order for 16 more examples of the type.
The six new Bell 412 EPs were presented to the army on 15 March, Indonesian Aerospace said in a statement. The six helicopters were originally ordered in March 2012.
Under the deal, Bell delivered the six helicopters to Indonesian Aerospace in a green condition. Indonesian Aerospace then added local content such as radios and weather radars before presenting the aircraft to the army.
In addition, the army has ordered 16 additional Bell 412 EPs, with deliveries of this batch to be completed by the end of 2014. As with the previous batch, Bell will deliver the helicopters to Indonesian Aerospace in a green condition, with the Indonesian company adding local content at its Bandung factory.
An industry source says both batches are part of a large Indonesian military requirement for the type.
Flightglobal's MiliCAS database shows that the Indonesian army operated 36 Bell 412s at the end of 2012.
