Low-cost carrier Norwegian will bolster its fledgling long-haul network with the addition of services to Fort Lauderdale in Florida from Copenhagen and Stockholm commencing in November.

The US gateway is the airline's first long-haul destination from Copenhagen and the third from Stockholm.

Norwegian will serve Fort Lauderdale twice weekly from both Scandinavian cities.

It is scheduled to launch its first long-haul operations - from Oslo and Stockholm to New York and Bangkok - in May and June.

The routes were due to have been flown using the carrier's ordered Boeing 787s, but given the Dreamliner's ongoing grounding, leased Airbus A340-300s may take their place.
