Estonia's ability to perform night-time search and rescue and surveillance activities has increased, following an upgrade to two of the nation's Robinson R44 light helicopters.

Conducted by US company REBTECH in collaboration with equipment supplier Night Flight Concepts, the work has introduced night vision imaging systems compatible with night vision goggles worn by Estonian air force pilots.

Estonia's air force has four R44s, as recorded by Flightglobal's HeliCAS database. The four-seat type represents the NATO air force's only rotary-wing capability.
