VietJet has converted its entire orderbook for the A320neo to the larger A321neo.

The carrier made the announcement following the delivery of its first A321neo during the last week of 2017.It bears registration VN-A646 (MSN 7991), and is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines.

Prior to the delivery of the first A321neo and the order conversion, VietJet had a total of 31 orders for the A321neo. It adds that its A321neos are equipped with 230 seats.

The conversion brings its orderbook with Airbus to 73 A321neos and 11 A321s. The move suggests the low-cost carrier will not be an operator of the A320neo.

Airbus says that this is the first A321neo to be delivered to a Southeast Asian carrier, and that VietJet will be the region's largest operator of the type.

Prior to the arrival of its first A321neo, the carrier's in-service fleet comprised 21 A320s and 26 A321s.

In addition, VietJet has orders for 100 Boeing 737 Max 8-200s.
