A Qantas Airways 737-400 aircraft was involved in a depressurisation incident this morning, but landed safely at its destination.

The incident occurred on the Adelaide-Melbourne route when the aircraft, registration VH-TJH, was at 36,000 feet, says a Qantas spokesman. The depressurisation was apparently caused by an air-conditioning unit failure, though Qantas has yet to confirm this.

Following the depressurisation oxygen masks were deployed and the aircraft descended to 10,000 feet. The 99 passengers were on oxygen for the 4-5 minutes it took the aircraft to reach 10,000 feet, where breathing is possible without the aid of oxygen.
