Royal Air Force training flights using the BAE Systems Hawk T1 aircraft have resumed, following the lifting of their temporary grounding after a fatal crash on 20 August.

A statement from the RAF said: "Having been assured of the airworthiness of the Hawk T1 fleet, the precautionary suspension of flying activity has been lifted and flying operations have been resumed."

The fatal accident involved an aircraft from the Red Arrows aerobatic display team, which had just finished displaying at the Bournemouth Air Festival. Flt Lt Jon Egging, the pilot of aircraft Red 4, died in the crash.
