A Yeti Airlines ATR 72-500 suffered a runway excursion amid rainy weather at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport.

According to an update from the airline, the incident occurred on 12 July around 11:05 local time. The aircraft, registration 9N-AMM, was operating flight YT422.

Data from Cirium’s FlightStats shows that YT422 is a domestic flight from Nepalganj to Kathmandu.

All 66 passengers and three crew members escaped safely, and no injuries were reported. Kathmandu Airport says that no damage to the aircraft or the runway was reported.

The airport has one 3,050m-long runway, 02/20. The incident left the runway shut, while work is under way to remove the aircraft.

It has issued a notice to airmen that the runway will be closed till 15:00 local time.

Cirium’s Fleets Analyzer shows that the aircraft is a 12-year-old ATR 72. It was delivered to the now-defunct Taiwanese carrier TransAsia Airways in 2007. Yeti Airlines leased the aircraft from Nordic Aviation Capital since September 2017.
