The Moscow Aviation Institute has designed a rocket named Mikron, which will be launched from beneath an RSK MiG-31 fighter at an altitude of 68,900ft(21,000m) to carry small satellites into orbit. The Mikron engines will use liquid oxygen and a butyl rubber derivative and will be capable of placing satellites weighing 50-150kg (110-330lb) into 300km (186 miles) orbit.
