US Airways has promoted Scott Kirby, an architect of the 2005 America West merger with US Airways, to president. The move puts him second in command to chairman Doug Parker, who had held the title of president.

ATA Airlines named Subodh Karnik president and chief executive from January, replacing John Denison who continues as chairman of the board of Directors. Prior to joining ATA in May 2005, Karnik had 15 years of airline experience, most at Delta Air Lines.

Gulf Air vice-president finance Ahmed Al Hammadi has taken over as the carrier's acting president and chief executive following the departure of James Hogan to Etihad Airways.

Air Mauritius managing director Nirvan Veerasamy has left the carrier after a year in charge to rejoin airline services company Veling.
