Pratt & Whitney has authorised Air India Engineering Services (AIESL) to provide MRO services for the PW1100G geared turbofan.

AIESL, which has received its first PW1100G engine, will provide support from its Mumbai facility, P&W states. It will see PW1100G MRO works “phased in”, the enginemaker adds, starting with engine upgrade and module exchange capabilities.

The PW1100G powers more than 150 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, P&W notes. These form part of the more than 700 aircraft powered by various P&W engines.

Indian operators with PW1100G turbofans include low-cost carriers IndiGo and GoAir. AIESL’s parent company, Air India, does not operate PW1100G engines in its fleet of 27 A320neos.
