Missile house MBDA signed contracts yesterday with two of its major sub-contractors on the Meteor beyond visual range air-to-air (BVRAAM) missile. In a ceremony on the MBDA stand, Thales Airborne Systems signed an agreement to provide the missile seeker, while Bayern-Chemie/Protac did likewise for the ducted ram-rocket motor that will power the missile beyond Mach 4.
The latter contract, which covers development, first lot production and integrated logistics, is valued at more than Û250 million ($296 million).
The development and initial production contract signed last December between MBDA and the UK Defence Procurement Agency, the prime contracting authority for the missile, is worth £1.2 billion.
