Saab Aerospace is to lay off 350 staff, blaming a lack of new defence programmes. With the end of development work on the JAS39 Gripen fighter, there are "very few new development assignments", says Saab Aerospace manager Hans Krüger. The jobs will be cut from Saab's development operation at Linköping, Sweden. Other Saab divisions have axed jobs recently - SaabTech cut 200 development and administrative posts and Saab Ericsson Space 80 production staff.
