Avia Solutions Group’s latest wet-lease operator, Thai SmartLynx, has secured its air operator’s certificate from the Thai regulator.
The carrier, based at Bangkok’s Don Mueang airport, will begin operations with an Airbus A320. It received its first aircraft in August.
Thai SmartLynx aims to expand with the introduction of 15-20 aircraft over the next three or four years.
It aims to support Thai carriers and other regional airlines by offering flexible, seasonal wet-lease capacity.

“This enables carriers to scale operations during peak demand periods or test new routes without major investment or long-term commitments,” says Thai SmartLynx chair Martynas Grigas.
Avia Solutions Group says the carrier is the first to have obtained its AOC under new Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand regulations which have been based on European Union Aviation Safety Agency standards.
