Aruba Airlines plans to begin scheduled service to Florida, as well as to other US markets.

The carrier says in a US Department of Transportation filing that it plans to operate scheduled and charter flights from points behind Aruba via Aruba and intermediate points to cities in the USA and beyond.

Aruba Airlines currently operates from Aruba to Maracaibo, Valencia and Panama City with a fleet of two Airbus A320 aircraft. It also offers charter flights to Cancun and Quito.

"Aruba plans to initially operate scheduled service to Florida markets, with other US markets to follow," it says.

Several airlines currently offer service to Aruba from cities in Florida, schedules in Innovata show. These include American Airlines, Surinam Airways and InselAir Aruba, which operate non-stop between Aruba and Miami. Spirit Airlines also flies between Aruba and Fort Lauderdale and Southwest Airlines operates between Aruba and Orlando.
