Cronus Airlines is in negotiations to acquire Next Generation Boeing 737s as it initiates an expansion of its network.
The three-year-old privately owned Greek carrier now operates two 737-300s and one -400 on scheduled and charter flights within Greece and to Paris, London and points in Germany. Extra frequencies and new destinations will be added later this year.
Next year at least one more 737-300/-400 will be added and negotiations are under way with Boeing for one -700 and one -800 for delivery in May 2001. The Greek airline is understood to have already placed deposits on the aircraft.
The airline carried some 200,000 passengers in 1997 and expects this to increase to more than 800,000 in 1999. New domestic destinations will be added in November, while frequencies will be increased to Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Thessalonika.
