Digital upgrade
AlliedSignal Aerospace is to replace analogue control-units in TFE731 turbofans with digital-electronic engine controls under its maintenance service plan, which covers about half the 6,000-plus TFE731s in service. Replacement units will be available to all TFE731s users in late 1996. The engine is widely used on business jets.
