Envisat assembly

ENGINEERS AT MATRA Marconi Space (MMS), in Filton, Bristol, UK, prepare the propulsion-tank assembly of the Envisat polar platform for integration onto the satellite's service module. MMS has been awarded the $700 million Envisat contract from the European Space Agency. The 8,000kg 25m-long craft is to be launched in 1999.
