The L-3 802L Longsword on the static display is showing off two new systems for the first time at this year’s show.

The aircraft sports a dual rack for rocket pods, doubling the 7.62in rounds available on a hard point from seven to 14.

The other new system is the Horizon Technologies Flying Fish airborne satellite monitoring system.

Mounted on a wing hard point, the system incorporates an electro-optical/infrared pod, signals intelligence receiver, GPS receiver, and a L-3 datalink.

The aircraft, based on the Air Tractor 802U, is equipped with a L-3 mission system and a stores management system provided by Moog.

A company representative says the L-3 802L has a market anywhere where there is a terrorist problem, such as the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The aircraft can operate in austere conditions, making it suitable for counterinsurgency operations in the developing world.
